Ubanyi Humprey ‘Nosike was born in Oji River Local government area of Enugu State,
Nigeria. He hold a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) from the Federal University of
Technology, Owerri. He has Higher National Diploma (HND) in Agriculture with
specialization in Animal Production in 1987 and Ordinary Diploma (OD) in General
Agriculture in 1985.
Ubanyi has worked with Anambra State Agric Development Program (ASADEP) from
1990 through 1992 as Agricultural Ex-tension Agent (EA). He worked as Block
Extension Supervisor at the Enugu State Agricultural Development Project (ENADEP)
from 1992 through 2000 and was promoted to become the Media Programme Officer
between 2000 through 2003, Ubanyi rose to become the Head of the Media unit from
2003 through 2005. Between 2005 through 2010, he became the Public Relations
Officer of same institution.
From 2010 through 2012, he became the Capacity Development and Resource
Mobilization Officer with Enugu State Agency for the Control of AIDS (ENSACA)
Ubanyi became the coordinator of Otuifunanyi Support Group from 2003 through 2011
and became the Coordinator of Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria
(NEPWHAN) Enugu State Chapter from 2004 through 2010.
Through hard work, dedication and commitment, he was nominated by the whole
delegates from South East to become the South Eastern Coordinator of NEPWHAN at the
Zonal level between 2009 through 2012.
He was nominated to become the executive member of the management board of
NEPWHAN in 2012 at the 4th delegate assembly. Ubanyi has worked for Hope World
Wide as MIPA) Officer
Ubanyi was among the member of the NEPWHAN Ambassadorial team to set up a
PLWHA network in Ghana in year 2005. He was honoured with the Heroes Award on
HIV/AIDS stigma fighting by Journalists Against AIDS (JAAIDS) Nigeria in December,
2005, Contributed to Diocesan Action Committee on AIDS (DACA), Enugu Anglican
Communion winning award in HIV intervention in December 2004
Ubanyi is a presenter, Diaries of a PLWHA – on Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria
(FRCN) program sponsored by Partnership for Transforming Health System (PATHS),
Network of People Living with HIV and AIDS in Nigeria (NEPWHAN) was established in
1998 as a non-governmental organization to serve as a collective voice of PLHIV in the
Country. The organization is registered with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in Nigeria
in September 2004.
The network since 1998 has established structures at the zonal and all States including the
Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and as well saddled with the responsibility of coordinating,
Supervising and monitoring activities and programs of over 650-support group’s
membership across the Federation making it the biggest PLHIV network in Africa.
Humphrey is now a regular guest/resource person in weekly HIV/ AIDS Programs on
COSMO FM and FRCN. He has trained Producers, Radio Diarists and Counsellors during
the Partnership for Transforming Health Systems (PATHS) project of 30 June-10July
Ubanyi has attended many conference and training programs on HIV and AIDS both
locally and international. He is a Board Member, Enugu State Action Committee on AIDS
(ENSACA), member, Ecclesiastical Province on the Niger Action Committee on AIDS
(EPACA), Board Member, Diocesan Action Committee on AIDS (DACA), Diocese of Enugu
Anglican Communion, member, HIV / TB Collaboration Committee, Enugu state,
member, Enugu State Advocacy Committee, Christian Health Association of Nigeria
(CHAN). Member Civil Society Organization on Health Watch He was a team member,
experiential visit to The AIDS Support Organization (TASO) Uganda 10-17th March
2007 with support from SNR.
Ubanyi was awarded 2005 Red Ribbon Heroes’ Award winner (Stigma Fighter),
Acknowledged by Journalists Against AIDS (JAAIDS) Nigeria
