Abdulkadir Ibrahim is a young PLHIV and community development volunteer who was the past immediate Secretary of NEPWHAN Sokoto State Chapter and currently the National Secretary/Senior Programme Manager of NEPWHAN who emerged as the National Secretary due to his track record for promoting the right and dignity of PLHIV. He was elected at the 5th Delegate Assembly of NEPWHAN that was held on 30th September, 2015. He has seven (7) years working experience with International NGOs and government institutions. Have worked with teams of development workers in the same and various organizations in Sokoto State to establishing a community based HIV/AIDs prevention program, care and support for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC), Family Planning (FP) and Sexual and Reproductive Health Right (SR). Abdulkadir possesses strong leadership skills and is a strong advocate of income generating activities for women, youths and other vulnerable groups.


Abdulkadir Ibrahim as a volunteer with other organizations has assisted in mobilizing cash and in-kind support to keep vulnerable children in schools by providing scholastic materials and linking them and their caregivers to other service providers. He has also been involved in shaping some of the policies of government in providing quality service delivery in line with the needs of the people. Over the years, he has provided technical assistant to support groups by linking them to potential partners within and outside the state. He has also helped in getting funds under the World Bank HIV/AIDS Development Project for NEPWHAN Sokoto state chapter in year 2014.


Ibrahim has participated in Advocacy; sensitization on stigma reduction, discrimination, adherence Counselling, HIV counselling and testing (HCT), as well giving first Aid treatment to people living with HIV/AIDS at home, Health management/domestic hygiene at home, assists in technical capacity building activities of the people in the community on HIV/AIDS management for PLHIV. In reducing gender vulnerability I have facilitated LACAs, Support Groups and CBOs to aid the formation of LACA Stake Holders Forums (LSF) and Ward Child Protection Committees (CPC) to Prevent and foster response to sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) and gender-based violence (GBV).


He started his career in 2009 when he was detected reactive to RVS after which he joined UDUTH Support Group in Sokoto. He holds BSc Microbiology, Diploma in Computer
